Our beautiful vintage car, Lily, was built in Paris in 1930 by Andre Citroen. She is a model C4 and was part of a range that represented Citroen at the peak of luxury car production in France. Lily is left hand drive with power to the rear wheels. The rear part of her roof folds down. This style of body is called a landaulette and enables truly wonderful photographs of the happy couple to be taken.
As you know, in WWII France fell to the invading German army and Lily also fell into enemy hands. After the war she had a long rest in a French barn, before being found and rescued.
Lily found her way to Britain where she was lovingly restored to her former glory and now revels in her new roll as a wonderful wedding car. Lily has true Parisian chic and has at last the roll that she was born to.
Lily now lives in Longhope in Gloucestershire's lovely Forest of Dean with Gareph and Valerie. She enjoys driving in the Forest and the surrounding countryside of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire which she finds to be very romantic. Lily also adores historic towns and cities such as Cheltenham, Gloucester, Ross on Wye, Tewkesbury, Hereford and Monmouth and Gareph and Valerie take her for visits whenever they can.
Gareph and Valerie are period re-enactors of the 1930/40’s and WWII events. Lily, in common with other veterans, tends to be silent about her wartime experiences.
Lily also likes going to shows and has been seen at the Welland Steam Rally Malvern, the Pershore Plum Fair Worcestershire, the Coleford Carnival of Transport in The Forest of Dean and the Gloucester Car Show at Highnam Court Gloucestershire, where she won their Silver Cup. She is a member of the Forest of Dean Historic Car Club and attends vintage events in Gloucester and Tewkesbury when not attending a wedding.
Lily’s support car is our Jaguar XJR saloon, a car that truly lives up to its marque by combining style, comfort, grace and absolutely amazing performance from its supercharged V8 engine. At the time of its launch it was the fastest factory road car that the company had ever made.
The XJ series of flagship cars were the last of the line of limousines that can can trace their pedigree to Sir William Lyons the company's founder. Sir William and William Walmsley's company was founded in 1922 and became Jaguar Motor Cars in 1945 Today the marque is still a cutting edge luxury performance car and the natural choice of official cars of both royalty and government.
The Jaguar is a firm favourite with Fathers of the Bride and Bride's Mothers alike. Bridesmaid's colour schemes look fabulous against the cream leather interior and the glass like shine of metallic black exterior paint work.
The interior is sumptuous cream leather and can seat five adults in style and comfort and with its luscious AMG gearbox and sublime V8 cylinders, with an added touch of supercharged whine just for good measure means you travel in true style on the great day.
